'Diablo 3' overtakes 'Warcraft' with 10 million sales
Activision has confirmed that Diablo III has sold more than 10 million copies in less than three months knocking World of warcraft off pole position.
World of warcraft users fell from 10. 1 million users at the end of March, to 9. 1 million at present, Eurogamer reports.
Blizzard’s Mike Morhaime told investors at a recent earnings call that World of warcraft players would most likely come back for the release of Mists of Pandaria expansion in diablo 3 gold September, and that many had converted to Diablo III during its launch period.
He also spoke about the company’s plans to improve Diablo III’s end-game rewards and new ways to play.
He said: “We’ve already made a number of fixes and updates including the activation of the Auction House, which provides a convenient way for players to trade items with each other.
“The Diablo team has also been working on improvements to end-game rewards and having a player-versus-player mode, which we hope will enhance the value and longevity of the game. ”
Activision’s Hirshberg also revealed that Call of Duty: Elite premium subscribers had topped 2. 3 million and the service had 12 million registered users.
One of Activision’s next major releases will be Black Ops 2, which will be released on November 13th on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
